understanding the difference...

u say u know me, but think again...
would u believe everything u see?
and what about the things u dont...
is it fair to just let them be?
do u know me or just know 'about' me??

with rapt attention u listen when i speak,
u see me walk the roads i take...
u feel me awe at innocent emotions...
u agree to the decisions i make...
but do u know me or just know 'about' me??

u note what i like and what i dont...
u notice what makes me smile and frown...
u smile when u think im happy,
ur there for me when u think im down...
but do u know me or just know 'about' me?

would u know if im happy,
even if i dont laugh someday?
would u know to read my thoughts,
even when i find it difficult to say?

would u be there beside me...
to hold my hand and stay?
when i find myself all alone,
when the whole world turns away?

would u know ive been crying...
when i fake that smile of mine?
that something has gone wrong somewhere,
even when everyone thinks im fine?

u say u know everything there is to know,
and in all possibilities perhaps u do...
u know everything there is to know 'about' me...
but do u really know me too??

  3. very true...
We can never be certain that we know people... we could know them for some time but probably not for forever because we all change with time...

  4. Wow, this is awesome!

I think it is possible to really "know" someone...but does it happen very often or very easily? no!

  5. agree completely to you..
and hey that was a new perspective! I mean I don't think anybody else ever though of something as optimal as, "but do u know me or just know 'about' me??"

  11. Call me weird but this made me think about the 'About....' menu item present in all programs. For Ex. About Mozilla Firefox:)

What would be the difference between reading the about dialog box for the program and actually using it?Na makes no sense with regards to what the poetry says then, does it:) Ok, so I dont get this:)

///nice poem, nice composition... aap kisi lyricist ke saath try karo.. movie mai aa sakta hai... :D///
lyricist ke saath?? u mean i should provide the music?? :0

///really nice and after so long... :)///
lol!! im not sure if u want me to take that as a compliment considering the second half of the statement ;p

    @ raaji
it can also be that uve always known everything about the person but have never really known him/her...
    think about it! :)

    @ aneri_masi
    i couldent agree more :)

    @ sach
    thanks :)
but frankly speaking, ive thought of it several times before...
and im sure we all at some point in life wonder if the people around us know us as much as they/we actually think they do :)

    im honoured...
atleast itll remind u of me everytime u read it :)

    @ cm-chap
thanks...u sure know how to flatter someone :D

    @ i walk alone
naah...im quite happy the way things are going :p
ohh but if ur willing to promote my writing, il'l definitely think of a side career option...heehee

    @ chakoli
    haha...i leave it to u to decide that..what do u think?? ;)

    @ urv
thanks...i agree but then again there is a difference between being near/around and being close...
sometimes u can be near someone and yet remain strangers just like sometimes u can be miles apart and still feel eachothers every heartbeat :)
so what exactly is being 'close'??
and then again, wouldent u call someone 'close' to u when he/she knows everything about u??
but will that mean that he/she necessarily 'knows' you?? :)
hope im not confusing u too much...

    @ anonymous
u'd only get it when u understand the difference between 'computer programmes' and 'human emotions' :)

there is no end to expectations... so end it!!
someone really may know u!! :)

**lyricist ke saath?? u mean i should provide the music?? :0

which means ki directly toh koi nahi lega, so kisi ke saath try karo!!!

**///really nice and after so long... :)///
lol!! im not sure if u want me to take that as a compliment considering the second half of the statement ;p

thanks but dont think too much about it...have been there and done that...and trust me! thinking about it can really sweep u away...and not really in a 'happy' way :(

    @ the mad orchid
    thanks dear :)
but as with me, i would not/cannot expect everyone to know me...
i would expect it only from those who matter...or perhaps from those for whom i (seem to) matter...
or maybe the other way around, only those who know me would really matter :)

  24. i wouldn't want anyone to know me toooo well that every thought of mine is read. isn't it true? would u wanna be figured out and deciphered? a lil mystery goes a long way.

  25. What I meant is that people in close proximity will know ABOUT us.. People really close to us will know us.. Now, the 2 categories of people are not mutually exclusive.. People in close proximity can also be the ones knowing us; by which they become close.. :D

Some people can know the difference.. only some.. they can make out something is wrong when u say all is fine.. they can make out the fake smile..

///there is no end to expectations... so end it!!
someone really may know u!! :)///
expectations never end i agree..but u do learn to live without them when u get to know how much it hurts when they come crashing down...
IMHO expecting noone to know u is a lot better than expecting it from someone who never will...

///which means ki directly toh koi nahi lega, so kisi ke saath try karo!!!///
hmpf!! directly kyon koi nahi lega?? :-/
(u have the right to remain silent..since u are only saying the wrong things and making it worse :p)

///was really expecting this reply... :P
and wat i meant was that u wrote a post after long...
    and really nice...

whoaa...its not sucha long time is it...hardly 3 days...ok but i think il'l take it as a compliment that u miss my posts soo much :)
    so thankyou!

    cheers

    @ macademia
ohh im soo sorry for providing u 'blue' food for thought :(
    was unintentional...

    @ vinod

    @ flying words
thankyou...wasent really crafted...i thought it was more of an half baked attempt to put across whats on my mind :)

  27. @ keshi
read my reply to mads and ankur..ul get ur answer :)

and yess its only the people who matter to us and for whom we matter,we wish to know us....
the rest dont need to understand the difference really...

    @ utopia
never thought about it this way...
yes definitely i would want to stay an enigma to people who dont matter much...
but would love it if the most important people in my life would know exactly what i think/feel without me having to tell them :)
    what say you?

    @ urv
well that requires a lotta luck...
i dont know if im lucky enough :)

  32. beautiful poem, reminded me of Westlife's song "You dont know"

    Nobody knows me
    Yet everyone knows my name
    Some people judge me
Not knowing that I'm the same..

    ReplyDelete
  35. this was just brilliantly worded ...
this is exactly what i meant when i asked in one of my posts how many ppl do u "know"...
anyways i know 'about u' abhi tak toh ...
    love..

if you think differently, go right ahead & express yourself..you might help me grow up in the process and i would be thankful.
if you think alike, you can ofcourse talk too..you might help me feel less alone in the crowd and i would be grateful.
Whatever you might think, i would love to know your reaction!!!
